๐Ÿ”— Linked Analysis

Dynamic interaction is a key feature that helps in better exploring and understanding the data of any dashboard or story. The linked analysis feature of Xpert Analysis Cloud allows us to perform dynamic interactions between widgets.

Imagine a scenario where we have a sales overview dashboard. It includes several data analysis charts: Sales per Region, Sales per Category, Sales and Profit Trend, Top 10 Products.

Linked Analysis of Input Controllersโ€‹

By default, input controllers perform linked analysis on components across the entire page, but here we want to exclude the Select Year input controller from affecting the Sales and Profit Trend chart.

Click on the menu of the input controller, select the Linked Analysis option, and open the properties settings panel on the right to see the configuration of the input controller's linked analysis properties.

Select Apply to: Selected Components Only, indicating that the filter of this input controller will only affect the selected components.

Continue to select the list of components you want to link, leaving Sales and Profit Trend and Select Year (this input controller itself) unchecked.

This way, selecting a year will only apply linked filtering to the selected components.

Linked Analysis of Chart Componentsโ€‹

Chart components have the same linked analysis properties. By default, they will filter components across the entire page, but you can manually specify certain components for linked filtering.

Click on an element in the chart, and if the chart has filtering capabilities, an analysis menu will pop up. It includes options like Linked Filtering, Hierarchy Drill Down, Dimension Drill Down, Drill Down. Select linked filtering, and the chart component will issue a filter to perform linked filtering on other components on the page.

When the linked analysis mode is set to Selected Components Only, the component only performs linked analysis on the selected components. When Auto-Link New Widgets is enabled, newly created components will automatically be added to the linked components list of this component.
